DESCRIPTION

PAN B is a DYN processed alloy belonging to the family of leaded bronzes. It is the only DYN processed alloy where dry running can be accommodated momentarily in the event of lubrication failure. The composition of PAN B makes it an ideal alloy to be used in an environment with only water lubrication present.

DYN Processed Bronzes offer genuine and measurable advantages over standard British, European and American bronze grades. Chemically and mechanically, DYN bronzes appear similar to their respective common counterparts, but distinguish themselves through their performance, longer wear life, longevity and superior service. This is achieved through a special process conducted in-house, which gives our bronzes a finer grain structure. It is this structural change and realignment which gives our bronze its unique properties.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Pump bearings for centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, piston pumps, submerged pumps
  • Rotary kilns, conveyors and valve rockers.
  • Wear pads and plates
  • Seal rings
  • Sea water applications where PAN B also offers good sea water resistance
  • Bearings for high speed grinding spindles and other precision machine tools
  • Bearings for hydraulics presses (gland seal rings)
  • Bearings for lock gates, coal preparation plant
  • Seal rings for valves and hydraulic equipment

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

  • Tensile 0.2% Proof Stress (N/mm2): 130
  • Tensile Strength (N/mm2): 250
  • Elongation (%): 9
  • Brinell Hardness (BHN): 80
  • Compression 0.2% Proof Stress (N/mm2): 160
  • Young's Modulus (E): 80
  • Coefficient of expansion 20oC - 100oC (10-6/K): 18.5
  • Thermal Conductivity (W/mk): 45
  • Electrical Conductivity (m/Ωmm2): 7
  • Density (kg/dm3): 9.2
  • Maximum Permissible Operating Temperature (oC): 200
  • Maximum Permissible Load Pmax (N/mm2): 30
  1. These figures are recommended for design calculations.
  2. Pmax values for load have been established in practice for the worst conditions, that is maximum load permissible for no permanent metal deformation when sliding movement is minimal.
  3. The values for physical properties were obtained by laboratory tests. They do not show the anti-friction and anti-corrosion qualities or the high resistance to wear for which DYN Bronze alloys are renowned.
